Is it just me, or is there a Medicaid Massacre happening right now?

This month alone, I'm seeing a huge surge in D-SNP beneficiaries getting notices that their plans are ending.

Yeah, there was a big jump last year after the COVID moratorium on eligibility checks ended, but this feels way different.
So many of these folks are going straight from having a high level of Medicaid (like QMB+ or QMB) to having absolutely nothing.
Most of them swear they're just as broke as they were a year ago. I know a bunch of states have really tightened up their Medicaid eligibility rules.

It really seems like since states started those re-enrollment/disenrollment checks last March, a full one-third of Medicaid beneficiaries who were reassessed have been kicked off nationwide. I saw that stat on a KFF tracker

I know it might seem like a bad dream, but it's true, many states have really tightened up Medicaid eligibility now that those COVID protections have faded away. Last year, we saw a wave of people losing coverage, but this time around feels even tougher. It's disheartening to see folks with QMB+ losing their benefits too, and yet, their financial situations haven't changed a bit. Have you noticed if it's affecting certain states or plans more than others where you're at? It can be really stressful trying to keep track of all this.

You're right to notice that!
I even saw a post yesterday where her aunt got kicked out of her Medicaid.
The surge of disenrollments looks like a serious and concerning trend!
It's especially heartbreaking to see people lose all their benefits when they truly are still in need..
We need to keep advocating for these vulnerable populations and ensuring they have access to the care they deserve!
